I’ve got four tips for buyers today to help them make the home buying process easier:

1. Do your homework. Make sure you know where you want to live. Walk around potential neighborhoods during different times for the day so you know what it’s like to live there.

2. Know the type of property you want. Here in San Francisco, there are houses, condos, TICs, collectives, etc. Sit down, do some more homework, and determine the type of product you’re looking for.

The pre-approval is probably the most important step.

3. Make sure you’re reading all the documents. You’ll get a big packet of disclosures, which include reports about the home you’re planning on purchasing. If you have any questions about them, ask your Realtor for help.

4. Make sure you get pre-approved. This is probably the most important step before buying a home. You won’t know what you’ll be able to afford before you get the pre-approval. It will ensure that you don’t waste your time looking for something you can’t afford or not looking for something you can afford.

If you have any questions about buying a home or anything else related to real estate, don’t hesitate to give me a call or send me an email. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
